- Seeds should be soaked in water for at least 24 hours before planting to improve germination rates, which are naturally low.
- Sow seeds in a pot with a mix of one part sand and one part seed-starting mix, lightly cover with soil, and maintain humidity with plastic wrap until germination occurs.
- For cuttings, use root sprouts or 6–8 inch stem cuttings from a healthy plant, planting about one-third of their length into well-draining soil and tamping down for support.
- The aromatic frankincense resin can be harvested by making small incisions in the bark during dry periods. Young trees produce the best resin, but older trees also yield usable sap.
